OVERVIEW
The Open Connectivity Foundation is comprised of several work groups and associated task groups. This is where the day-to-day work of the organization is done under the overall direction and strategic leadership of the four Steering Committees and the Board of Directors. Please see below for a summary of the groups and their responsibilities.

BUSINESS STEERING COMMITTEE
The Business Steering Committee (BSC) exists to help prioritize, align and advise OCF’s marketing, strategy and membership agenda, deliver process and structure to the organization. The BSC also ensures tighter coupling with key members, the Technical Steering Committee, and the Board of Directors.
TECHNOLOGY COORDINATION STEERING COMMITTEE
The Technology Coordination Steering Committee (TCSC) exists to help facilitate inter-work group communication, coordination, and technical alignment among the following groups: Core Technology SC, Open Source WG, Data Model WG, Security Oversight WG, Certification WG and the Work Groups under the Domain Coordination Committee.
CORE TECHNOLOGY STEERING COMMITTEE
The Core Technology Steering Committee (CTSC) exists to help facilitate inter-work group communication, coordination, and technical alignment among the following Work Groups: Core Technology, Core Security and Tools.
DOMAIN COORDINATION COMMITTEE
The Domain Coordination Committee (DCC) exists to provide coordination across Domain Work Groups (DWGs) to facilitate cooperation and to provide a centralized synchronization point between the DWGs and the other OCF WGs, OCF Staff and the Board of Directors.
CERTIFICATION WORK GROUP
The Certification Work Group identifies, specifies, and maintains the necessary policies, test tools, and infrastructure to validate that devices correctly implement OCF specifications, in support of the certification logo program.
CORE SECURITY WORK GROUP
The Core Security Work Group creates and maintains the Core Security and Cloud Security specifications. The group supports the OCF Board of Directors in their role as the Policy Authority for the OCF Public Key Infrastructure, and is responsible for security hardening and key infrastructure management and supervision.
CORE TECHNOLOGY WORK GROUP
The Core Technology Work Group develops and maintains the following OCF specifications: Core Framework, Core Optional, Bridging Framework, Device to Cloud Services, and Cloud API for Cloud Services. This group also provides technical collaboration management and contribution tracking, maintenance of the OCF specifications and other materials, and develops proposed test cases.
DATA MODEL WORK GROUP
The Data Model Work Group is responsible for reviewing, releasing, owning and maintaining data model submissions and the approval process. The group also evangelizes the oneIoTa data modeling tool and other tools within and outside of OCF.
FAIRHAIR WORK GROUP
The Fairhair Work Group is a sponsored activity of OCF and open to Members and non-members who have signed the FHWG Participant Agreement. The FHWG is treated as a Domain Work Group for the purposes of oversight by the Domain Coordination Committee. The FHWG maintains and promotes the Fairhair specification, which addresses onboarding of Commercial lighting to IP networks.
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS WORK GROUP
The Marketing Communications Work Group is the marketing communications, public and member relations arm of OCF. They establish the marketing strategy for OCF, and then execute that strategy in areas such as Events, Digital Media, Public Relations, Web Content, and Branding. The team also maintains and provides OCF resources for member-company spokespersons.
MEMBERSHIP WORK GROUP
The Membership Work Group helps recruit new OCF members who are implementing the technology and certifying their products. Members are able to provide input and resources that contribute to the creation of a specification and an open source implementation to meet the requirements of IoT verticals.
OPEN SOURCE WORK GROUP
The Open Source Work Group oversees and facilitates the development of the OCF source code under the governance rules of an Open Source Project with developers from Member and non-member companies. The group also acts as OCF’s liaison with the IoTivity Project. IoTivity delivers an open source reference implementation of the OCF standard specifications but is not limited to those requirements. There are currently two OCF implementations under the IoTivity umbrella: IoTivity and IoTivity-Lite.
SECURITY OVERSIGHT WORK GROUP
The Security Oversight Work Group defines and distributes best practices in security, is responsible for managing and socializing the Incident Response Plan (IRP), CERT intermediary [emergency response], collaborating with the Open Source WG, the Certification WG, Technology Policy WG, and OCF Legal. The group also organizes and coordinates reviews of the security aspects of technical documents and CRs for violations of OCF’s core security principles.
SMART COMMERCIAL BUILDING WORK GROUP
The Smart Commercial Building Work Group creates profiles and specification contributions that support identified requirements for the Smart commercial building environment.
SMART HOME WORK GROUP
The Smart Home Work Group creates profiles, specification contributions, and aligned data models (both OCF native and derived) that support identified requirements for the Smart Home.
STRATEGY WORK GROUP
The Strategy Work Group proposes and maintains priorities and roadmaps based on OCF objectives and IoT market trends. The group works closely with the Board of Directors, as well as the CTWG and OSWG, to ensure synergy and tight alignment. The team performs market analysis on IoT trends to make sure that OCF is meeting current and future customer needs, and also creates prioritized market-driven use cases and user scenarios. The Strategy Work Group also oversees the OCF Liaison program to help identify and promote industry collaboration opportunities.
TECHNOLOGY POLICY WORK GROUP
The Technology Policy Work Group mitigates the substantial risk to OCF posed by a rapidly evolving global regulatory environment related to IoT, by developing and managing an outward-facing OCF public policy strategy as well as by monitoring and interpreting policy developments relevant to IoT for the Board, steering committees, and work groups.
TOOLS WORK GROUP
The Tools Work Group is responsible for managing all tools including, but not limited to, oneIoTa, validators, editors, code automation, spec generation, github, etc.
UPNP WORK GROUP
The UPnP Work Group ensures UPnP specifications, web sites and certification program and tools are enhanced, maintained and effectively integrated with the overall OCF Specifications and certification program.
