First introduced in January 2020, OCF is proud to announce the official completion of the OCF Universal Cloud Interface (UCI), now included in the recently published OCF 2.2.0 specification release. The OCF UCI will simplify collaboration between IoT device manufacturers by providing a programming interface for standardizing connectivity between different manufacturers’ cloud servers, as well as devices and the cloud. Using the OCF UCI, manufacturers can produce secure, interoperable IoT devices with confidence in their seamless operation.
To accompany the completion of OCF UCI technology, OCF is now launching a comprehensive Cloud-to-Cloud Certification Program. This program will ensure interoperability between devices on different clouds, specifically by certifying two types of clouds independently: a client-side cloud for mobile apps, TV apps, etc. and device-side cloud for sensors, appliances, etc.
To further simplify the development process, OCF has created an OCF reference and open source implementation of the OCF UCI. This open source reference has passed all OCF UCI certification test cases, providing vendors with confidence while developing and certifying cloud connectivity using OCF technology. OCF members will be able to participate in the C2C Certification Program this August, and the public can utilize the open source implementation beginning the same month.
The completion of the UCI and the launch of the C2C Certification Program mark a significant milestone for OCF. OCF now offers a complete IoT solution for vendors and manufacturers, with technology and certification programs available for device-to-device, device-to-cloud and cloud-to-cloud connectivity. This makes OCF a one-stop-shop for the industry to meet all their IoT device connectivity needs.
